Adab Nawa

Adab Nawa — Karim City College's very own Literature Fest!

The winged hourglass flies by in one breath when one is enveloped within the warmth, enlightenment, and adrenaline that the lushness of lamp-lit literature brings forth. Adab Nawa, a SPArC organised event, is all about days worth of literary geniuses and presentations, interviews, story-telling sessions, praising poetry, and musical shayaris. Introduced from the year 2019, this concept fences a combination of five events, competitive and non competitive, most of which were previously organised individually, namely — Raavi, Bazm-e-Shayari, Bait Baazi, Meet The Author and Mukaalma.

Raavi

It's a day weaved with the narration of self composed short stories in three different languages — Hindi, English, and Urdu. A non competitive, annual, trilingual event, held simply for the pleasure of getting absorbed in one of the most treasured literary form. Each category of language carries within itself a series of narration of short stories, without overlapping the set tracks that differs one language from the other. A pure lingual form of any language is to be expected. The self-composed short stories are narrated by some selective student-writers of the college, and invited guest writers. The time limit to bow-tie, and conclude one's story is 7+1 minute, maximum.

Interested students may provide the designated selector their piece, and if their short story fits the required criteria (quality, length, content, etc.,), then they may participate and narrate their story when the occasion arrives.

They must show their work to the selector before the provided last date, and get it verified before the day of the event.

The previous year, SPArC organised Raavi on 11th December 2018. Three members were invited to narrate their piece. One student for the English category, one student for the Hindi Category, and our guest writer, and honourable Professor A. K Das Sir of our college, for, again, the English language. It was a chilly noon warmed by the characters, and events playing out in the air — a world of another world.

And this year, it's again to be held on 9 December 2019, with our guest story-teller being our college's alumnus Mr. Munjakesh, a notable teacher in Kerala Public School, Gamharia, and a brilliant writer of short stories and poems, for English category; Mr. Niyaz Akhtar, a published author of short stories such as Gidha, a collection of short stories — Budhe Bargad Ka Aant, and more such works, and an assistant officer in the Urdu language subdivision of the State Government of Jharkhand's Department of Official Language, for Urdu category; and six selected student writers, for both English and Hindi category, to entertain the day.

Bazm - e - Shayari

Bazm - e - Shayari is an annual, quadrilingual non-competitive poetry-recitation event organised by SPArC. In a gathering of poetry lovers, again, selective students are asked to recite their self-composed poems, in either of the four language categories, namely — Hindi, English, Urdu and Bangla. Interested students may provide the designated selector their piece, and if their poem fits the required criteria (quality, length, content, etc.,), then they may participate and recite their poetry when the occasion arrives.

They must get their work to the selector before the provided last date, and get it verified before the day of the event.

It's an engaging, brilliant display of varied topics brought forth in a charming rhythm, and as a sincere march. Verses fan out throughout the hearts of all who adore this literary form, touch their spirit — relaxing the mind from daily stress, and letting it sink into the pleasant, alit vibes that spiral into the atmosphere.

The previous year, Bazm-e-Shayari was held on 18 December 2018. A healthy audience had amassed to eagerly take part in it, and the participants were equally earnest as they delivered their work to the awaiting ears.

This year, again, it's to be held on 10 December 2019, and we have the privilege of having between us Mr. Vishwajeet Sen 'Zeest', our college's alumnus and an esteemed poet, lyricist, and writer, whose songs have been sung by famous singers such as Papon, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Monali Thakur, and others, and Dr. Kalyani Kabir, published author of the book Gili Dhoop, and the principal of J. K. M Degree and B. ED college as our guest poets.

Meet The Author

A chance to glimpse inside the mind of an established writer, Meet The Author is an interactive session, one more novel idea solidified by SPArC for all literature enthusiasts, to provide them an opportunity to see, learn, and take home with them different angles of creativity and success as seen, or practiced by published authors, and interact with the selfsame — to discuss with, or ask them questions, ideas or doubts regarding creativity, publishing, or literature that one has always nurtured.

This year, on 10th December 2019, SPArC has the fortune of inviting an eminent author — Dr. Pankaj Mitra, to begin this happy occasion.

Bait Baazi

Bait Baazi, another one of the new concepts brought forth by SPArC, is a competitive event that entails a pleasant, exciting day brimming with the bubbles of musical ghazals.

The participation requirements —

  1. Students are to participate as a team of two; individual, or group (more than two) participation, will be disqualified.

  1. They are supposed to register their names to the appointed professor(s) before the provided last day.

Similar to the idea of 'Antakshari' — we've to start our ghazal from the last alphabet of the previously sung ghazal by another contestant. We may sing either famous ghazals of eminent shaayers, or our own self-composed ones — provided that the technical aspects of the self composed ghazals, such as their form, style, meter, etc., are assuredly correct.

This year, this gripping contest is to be hosted on 11 December 2019, and is to be conducted by Professor Gauhar Aziz.

Mukaalma

Another new concept practicalized by SPArC, Mukaalma is a discussion, a literary exchange, between literary wizards, such as renounced story tellers, brilliant prose writers, eminent poets, and excellent critiques. A sort of dialogue exchange on literature, creativity, creativite atmosphere of our city, and more such topics to aware and excite the audience towards literature.

It is to be held on 11 December 2019 for the first time this year, and SPArC has had the honour of inviting these four brilliant authors of Jharkhand in our college for Mukaalma. They're —

Mr. Jaynandan ( a renounced published story-teller)
Mr. Anwar Adeeb (a brilliant published prose writer)
Mr. Akhileshwar Pandey (an eminent published poet)
Mr. S. C Gupta (an excellent published critique)
