Qalamkaar 2019

To explore the spontaneous creativity carried by the students, Society for Promotion of Art and Culture, commonly known as SPArC, organises Qalamkaar every year. It's a multilingual competitive event that allows us to explore and exploit our skills through the various forms of creative writing — essay, poetry, short story, etc., in any of the four different languages — Hindi, English, Urdu and Bangla, in a duration of one hour . The topic is given on the spot, and the students are given an hour to write their heart out in any literary form they like best.

Rules  —

1. The participants must drop their entry, mentioning their name, class, roll no., language and contact number, in the SPArC drop box before the day of the competition.

2. Their piece must be creative and original.

3. It must be completed within the given time limit of an hour.

4. The participants are free to choose between any language out of these four — English, Hindi, Urdu and Bengali, but they must stick to the language of their choice, and they cannot switch back and forth between two, or more different languages.

5. The participants are expected to be in their college uniform, and must carry with themselves their valid I-card/ Admission Fee Receipt. Students without college uniform will be denied participation.

6. The judge's decision is to be considered final, and their judgement should be respected by all.

This year, on 7 September 2019, the topic decided by the conducting professors, Mr. S. M. Yahiya Ibrahim Sir, Dr. Basudhara Roy Ma'am, and Mr. Gauhar Aziz Sir, was 'Flight'. We had thirty six participants for English, thirty one for Hindi, ten for Urdu and two for Bangla.

The criteria for the judgment is — originality, depth and meaningfulness of the content, writing style, creativity, imagination, presentation, technique and form of the submitted piece.
